Story

This was so much fun to create, and I am so Blessed for the opportunity to do so!

For this remix I wanted to add elements of ambiance that would create a space of emotional reflection, and pensive thought, while being something you could vibe and nod your head to.

The percussion and hi-hats play in an almost clock sounding rhythm. Simulating time that is passing by/has passed by, as the song is talks about the past - the way we “were”.

I love the original key of Kimbra’s song and wanted to keep it rather then transpose it. I enjoyed trying out different inversions of the chords to try create that space of emotional reflection.

The snares are a part of the song that stand out as they are not your traditional sounding snare. They are an inspiration and homage to the places I lived and grew up from an early age.
