Charles Johnson better known as Y.S.L. (Young Street Legend) is out to prove that not every rapper from North Philadelphia is created equal. Compared to the likes of Jay-Z and Nas, Y.S.L. has been rapping since the age of 8. Born and raised in North Philadelphia Y.S.L.’s earliest memories involve music.

Growing up in a single parent home Y.S.L. uses his experiences to write relatable lyrics that connect with a wide audience. Even after growing up with an older brother and cousin in the music game Y.S.L. didn’t begin to take his music seriously until after a short stint in prison allowed him to focus and really develop a hunger and drive for success. He surrounded himself with positive people and began to educate himself about music and the industry. You can often find him up in the late hours of the night writing lyrics. His goal, to become the Legend his name implies.

Having played venues all over Philadelphia and other cities around the country, He has developed a following based on his original lyrics and his ability to connect one on one with his fans. Currently he is gearing up for the release of his debut album. He hopes to show up and coming artists that anything is possible by working hard and staying true to themselves as artists.
