波士頓㹴個體隸屬於中型犬，有一條短尾巴和豎立的耳朵。AKC的資料顯示它們非常聰明，易於接受訓練。友好但時而固執。儘管其少數能活到十幾歲，但平均壽命仍為11至13歲。起初波士頓㹴是被當作捕鼠犬和伴侶犬的，但如今主要作為玩賞犬。

The Boston terrier is a medium-sized dog with a short tail and erect ears. AKC data shows that they are very smart and easy to train. Friendly but sometimes stubborn. Although a minority of them live into their teens, the average lifespan is still 11 to 13 years . At first the Boston terrier was used as a rat catcher and companion dog, but today it is mainly used as a play dog.
